At Elim, God’s gifts come in a variety of ways, and we see them in the talents He has given to all our students and adults.
Tom, one of Elim’s long-time residents who recently celebrated his 90th birthday, has an amazing talent that everyone at Elim can enjoy – he is an artist!
As the self-titled “World’s Most Famous Artist,” Tom’s passion for art drives him to thrive. Because of his age, the Elim staff do not push him to participate in activities he is not interested in – so every day, he sits at his desk and creates more beautiful artwork.
Not only does he partake in the craft, but he also loves to comment (and critique) on other works of art. For his birthday, his friends at Elim all designed their own birthday cards to give to Tom, and he made sure to comment on every single one!
Tom’s inspiration for his drawings comes from various sources, but as an avid fan of horticulture, many of his pieces are influenced by plants, trees, and flowers. His art hangs on the walls at Elim’s Adult Services building, and everyone loves to see what he creates. He is incredibly proud of the pieces he makes, and he has no plans to slow down.
And if you want to know the secret to living a long, healthy life, Tom has two answers. First, he recommends eating Cheerios every morning for breakfast because it’s great for your cholesterol, and second—and most importantly—he knows it is because he is a miracle from God.
Because of the kindness and generosity of our donors, we are able to provide the tools and resources that our adults and students, like Tom, need to pursue their God-given potential. Can you give today and equip our students and adults to thrive?
