Jason loves to participate in the community outings that Elim’s programs provides. Whether it’s volunteering at Ronald McDonald house or playing basketball at the community center, Jason is the first to volunteer. In fact, he’s so excited to go into the community that he often brings his case manager photos of busses to communicate his desire to go!
Jason is provided with the structure he needs to thrive and succeed. He can be found smiling throughout this activities, in the community, or while packaging HOPE Packs supplies on Elim’s work floor. To see him now, one would never know how diligently Elim’s staff, his doctors, and his family members worked to restore his enjoyment of daily activities and put a smile back on his face.
A year ago, Jason struggled with a medical issue which threatened his happiness. Because he was unable to verbally communicate his discomfort, Jason struggled even more, and he was not able to attend community outings or enjoy his daily activities. Fortunately, Elim’s hard-working staff collaborated with his family and medical team to provide Jason with the structure and sensory breaks he needed to bring his peace and happiness back.
These days, Jason is back to his cheerful self. He loves shooting hoops at the local recreational center with staff members at Elim. He smoothly transitions through his daily activities, politely communications wants and needs. He loves to volunteer and serve others.
Maintaining that good cheer is the goal of Jason’s instructor. “We want to see him continue to grow and learn communication skills. Jason loves to learn. Above all, we want to see him continue to show joy and smile.”
