Welcome to Crossroads!

March 24, 2025

While some may find periods of transition filled with uncertainty, there’s one thing we are confident of here at Elim: our students in our Crossroads program are ready to tackle any challenge.

The Crossroads Transition Program at Elim consists of students between the ages of 18 and 22 who are entering their last few years of educational services. This program focuses on helping students achieve their transition goals. It allows them to engage in vocational or entrepreneurial activities, along with courses such as Domestic Skills, Personal Health, Recreation and Leisure Skills, Community Living, Social Skills, and Work Skills.

There are a multitude of impactful programs that students can take part in every day.

Oasis Spa Creations and the Crossroads Gift Company are two student-led businesses that create products for anyone to purchase. From soaps to lip balms, each Crossroads student can bring these products to life and sell them at conferences and events like Dutch Fest!

Tim Griffin, the Assistant Principal of Crossroads, shares: “These products that reflect their own choices in colors, wrapping, their own wording choices on cards . . . and we all know how important it is to have the ability to make choices in our lives and to have our preferences heard and honored.”

Elim’s STEP Program (Supportive Training in Employment Possibilities) provides vocational training with the support of job coaches while continuing to develop soft skills like job etiquette, asking for help, and staying on task. On campus, students work on school buses with the Transportation Department or collect recyclables throughout the campus. Offsite, you can find students at Trinity Christian College cleaning and sanitizing cafeteria tables or assisting local churches.

The Service-Learning program at Elim is unique because it’s rooted in serving the community and showing Elim students the value of giving back to others. Elim students travel to senior homes to interact with the residents or play group games with them and serve a variety of pantries, assisting in sorting different packages to go to those in need. They also attend Navarro Farms to care for various farm animals and vegetation.

Crossroads is a twofold program: it prepares our students to transition into their communities and feel equipped to take on any challenges they may face while finding a way to serve those in the community and give back in countless ways.

“We are not done yet,” Tim shares. “There is still more to do – more adventures, more things to learn, more to improve upon, and more to discover together with our students in preparing them for life after their time at Elim.”

Because of your generosity, our students receive the tools and resources that they need to thrive. Can you give today and equip over 400 students and adults at Elim to pursue their God-given potential?
