Each sticker represents an obstacle overcome, a challenge conquered, or a skill that Avery achieved at Elim.
Each day, Avery and her teachers work together to help her gain new skills and grow in independence. As she works toward her goals, Avery is reinforced with new stickers decorated with characters from her favorite television shows or cartoons. By using this visual reward, Avery is able to focus her energy on following her classroom routine.
Avery loves to learn, and her interests were piqued during a study of ancient Egypt last quarter. Now, Avery always chooses a history book as her favorite book. Her classmates and teachers can’t help but smile when she strikes the “Walk Like an Egyptian” pose when it’s her turn to use the SMART Board each day.
Avery also has opportunities to grow in her faith. She loves attending chapel with her classmates and was proud to read the opening prayer for this year’s Christmas chapel.
