Jacks Love for Elim

August 17, 2022

Jack is a very smart kid, who loves to learn. He loves math and playing math games, building with blocks, and is now starting to learn about science. Not only that, but if you ask him if he likes school, he will tell you “I love Elim.”

Jack recently completed his first year at Elim. When Jack’s family was talking about him going into first grade, his school felt they didn’t have the right resources that he would need.

They started looking for a place where Jack could still have therapy that teaches skills and proper behavior, but also a place for him to be challenged academically because of how much he loves learning.

Coming to Elim

His family was referred to Elim by a family friend, and after talking to several people about Elim, they were told nothing but great things and decided this would be the best place for Jack to grow.

Since coming to Elim, Jack has grown so much in a short amount of time. First, Jack is speaking more and putting words together faster! He has started talking in full sentences and engaging others into the conversation he is having, as well as greeting his teachers and friends in the hallways. His communication has also increased at home. His mom says this is a huge accomplishment to witness.

Jack has also grown in his writing (although it’s not his favorite), transitioning to different activities, and completing his work. He is gaining more confidence in himself, adjusting well to his schedule, and loves his classroom. His teacher said, “I love seeing Jack sitting with his elbows on the desk and hands holding up his head and being engaged when I am teaching!”

Jack Continues to Grow

Thanks to your support, Elim is providing Jack with the therapy and resources he needs to reach his goals and to grow. With all the support of Elim’s teachers, therapists, and the aides, Jack’s mom knows that he is loved and cared for and loves seeing him doing well. In fact, because of this, she felt comfortable enough to go back to work and not have to worry about whether Jack is getting the support he needs.

Jack is excited to take on his second year at Elim and continuing to learn and grow. He has made so much progress in his first year, you can imagine how much he is going to continue to grow next year.
