Fitness Offers Many Benefits For Jerry

Jerry has been part of Elim’s community since he started in our school program many years ago. Today, we are blessed to support Jerry and his family through a specialized autism program you helped us develop. Recently, Jerry’s motivation to participate in work and other activities began to diminish due to some health issues, and we knew we needed to help him make a change!
With your support, we worked with Jerry’s family to incorporate fitness goals into his daily schedule. Now, he walks laps on Elim’s walking paths and on the neighboring bike trail. He also enjoys sweating it out to Richard Simmons’ exercise videos in Elim’s multi-purpose room. As Jerry’s weight decreased, his energy skyrocketed, and his motivation to participate in other activities soon followed.
Erica Malone, Jerry’s case manager, notes that Jerry’s healthy lifestyle has increased his happiness, too.
“Jerry is not only participating more in program activities, he’s become even more social and extroverted! The structured environment of the program and the personalized attention has helped Jerry achieve his goals.”
