If you see Roger biking down Elim’s outdoor paths, don’t be surprised to hear us enthusiastically cheering him on!
For many years, Roger showed interest in riding a modified bicycle, but he struggled to tolerate wearing a bike helmet. Elim’s therapy and teaching staff never gave up, persistently encouraging and exposing Roger to the equipment he needed to make his biking dreams a reality. In June, Roger finally did it! Proudly wearing his helmet, Roger rode a tandem bike with his assistant teacher, his happiness evident to all!
Biking is just one area where Roger experienced huge strides this year. Just a couple of years ago, found it difficult to take part in classroom activities and community outings. Elim’s team knew the potential of this young man and worked hard to equip him with the communication skills and strategies he needed to be able to enjoy activities with others.
Today, and because of your support, Roger loves community trips, visiting chapel, and attending assemblies and sporting events. He enjoys participating in classroom activities with his friends and has built strong relationships with Elim’s staff.
Oh, and biking too. He loves biking.
