Blessing Our Neighbor: What Happens When Elim’s Mission is Lived Out

Jimmy–one of over 270 Elim students–recently began a job in the community at a local Culver’s restaurant. Elim’s staff members helped him secure the position, then worked alongside the Culver’s employees to teach him the skills he needed to be successful. Jimmy loves working in the community, talking with customers, and knowing that he’s doing a great job!

Jimmy is one of over 900 children and adults with disabilities served by Elim each day. Community involvement is just one way that Elim lives out its mission to help individuals with disabilities achieve their God-given potential. Each day, individuals from Elim can be found in the community shopping, socializing, working, or volunteering in important service-learning projects where they bless those around them.

You’ll also meet Freddy, a special student who is learning to celebrate his unique gifts while growing in independence at Elim. Even in the midst of the summer months, Elim’s programs are in full swing. Over 90% of Elim’s students attend summer school. Our Adult Services program runs  year-round.
