Elim’s Adults Shine on Stage

February 24, 2016

Elim’s drama and show choir teams deserve a standing ovation! Performing every month at local nursing homes, Elim’s adults love sharing their talents and love for the Lord through drama. Following their performance, our adults join their audience members for lunch and a time of fellowship.

Elim’s 15-person drama team and show choir meets each month to rehearse. In choir, adults perform a variety of vocal warm-ups and learn how to engage their voices and bodies to perform. The drama team also meets each month to review scripts, run short scenes, and talk through important performance skills.

Kristin Young, Elim’s music and drama instructor, knows these performance skills are valuable for more than the stage. “These programs actively engage our adults’ minds and encourage them to be more vocal and outgoing, says Young. “Through drama and singing, our clients learn that their voices are instruments. They also learn where to look when performing and how to express emotions during
the show.”

Brett is one adult who was born for the stage! He recently shared, “Drama is a lot of fun. I like learning about the plays and going to nursing homes. I think people are happy when they see people perform for them!”
