Twenty-five classrooms classrooms in Elim’s school program have been beta-testing Boardmaker Current Events for a six-month period. “In just over four weeks, our teachers involved in the Pilot have seen success with their students,” said Sharon Maack-Connolly, Assistive Technology Coordinator at Elim Christian School. “It’s been a very exciting journey so far and we look forward to watching our students’ skills develop over the course of the Pilot.”
Boardmaker Current Events offers weekly news-based content that promotes active learning with interactive activities. The predictable instructional framework supports literacy development, language, and basic math skills in a motivational way.
Boardmaker Current Events is one of three new solutions as part of Boardmaker Instructional Solutions (BIS). These solutions were developed by Mayer-Johnson, a Tobii Dynavox company, and recently introduced during the 2015 ATIA Conference in Orlando, Florida. Available for use by educators, therapists, and parents, BIS are deep curricular programs designed to offer engaging, research-based instruction for students with special needs.
"At our school, we have struggled to find solutions that are adapted, accessible, academically relevant and aligned to standards," said Maack-Connolly. "The fact that Boardmaker Instructional Solutions use research-proven instructional strategies and are so easy to master gave me the confidence to recommend them for our students. These products have made our students active learners using age-appropriate content…their success continues to exceed our expectations!”
The three new curricula offerings empower achievement in today’s more rigorous educational environment by supporting individual learning needs while raising expectations. Delivered through Boardmaker Online, the solutions give each student, regardless of ability, access to the same content as their peers, and empower educators with the tools and time they need to lead their students to success. Each offering comes with instruction and lesson plans that are easy to implement, support Results-Driven Accountability (RDA) and inspire teachers to feel confident in their everyday instruction.
