Elim Adults Send Care Packs to Military
September 2, 2013
Imagine serving your country in the far corners of the world, protecting the safety of innocents, creating a better life for others, and devoting your life to the service of others. But in those far away places, wouldn’t you appreciate a little taste of home once in a while?
That very sentiment prompted 60 of Elim’s adults to move into action. In November, they packaged some great American treats and eats, adding in Bible verses, words of support, and other necessities for the American soldiers in Afghanistan. This exciting project was a joint effort between Elim and Christ Church of Oak Brook (Illinois). Approximately 175 military care packages were assembled and sent to Illinois National Guard members stationed in Afghanistan and to other church relatives who are serving in the Armed Forces.
Elim’s adults enthusiastically assembled the kits, excited to bring joy to soldiers. Karen, an Elim adult who worked on the project, understood that her efforts resulted in happiness for a soldier far from home. “The military kits were a new and interesting job for us, and it was exciting that we could be a blessing to the troops!”
Your church can join Elim’s next military kits campaign, beginning May 5, 2013! To support troops from your congregation and many more worldwide, contact Glenn Spoolstra at glenn.spoolstra@elimcs.org or (708) 293-6510. Please contact Glenn immediately to get started!
