“I get to ride the horse today, Bob” was Tony’s morning greeting as we all walked down to breakfast before heading out today. Tony was looking forward to participating in Tesoros De Dios’ horse therapy program.
After a quick breakfast we were anxious to arrive back at Tesoros De Dios and work with two different groups of children. Before the students arrived, we were blessed by devotions with Tesoros staff. The passage from Matthew 6 they shared helped us focus our hearts and minds as we started our work for the day.
The sound of laughter filled the room as the 16 students and their families entered the building. Each of us were able to work with the students during the lessons that the teachers had prepared. The teachers were grateful for any advice we were able to give as the day went on and were eager to hear what observations we had made. Several lessons later the students got ready to leave and head home to relax for the remainder of the day.
Our group, on the other hand, was ready to do a little shopping at a nearby market called in the town of Massaya. After an enjoyable dinner, with wonderful musical entertainment, and of course a little shopping we were ready to call it a night and take the hour bus ride back to our home away from home.
The smiles on the Tesoros children’s faces gave us hope and happiness that we will not soon forget. Working with the teachers and students at Tesoros has not only taught us many wonderful lessons, it has also allowed us to serve Christ and for that we are thankful.
